Can Marlès Wine Cellar and rural wine tourism
Can Marlès is a complex in the Montmell natural park, in the region of Baix Penedès, Tarragona. Its 300 hectares shape a crest of protected mountains and its indigenous vegetation and fauna turn it into one of the most privileged zones in the Penedès because of the richness of its earth and landscapes. As it is full of aquifers, it provides all the valley with natural water, both for cultivation and livestock. This zone, crowned with Montmell’s castle (c11th), is full of history and stories since the Andalusian age in our lands.
The white pine, the holm oak, box tree and the oak are the main characters of these rocky woods, which protect the 5 hectares of planted grapevine of Can Marlès. There are different varieties of grapevines, such as Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. These make our ecological and exclusive wines possible.
The earth of Can Marlès vineyards is clayey, full of nutrients and carbohydrate nodules. These allow us to delay/prolong the ripening of Tempranillo vineyards, making it sweeter in a natural way. In a few months, we will be able to enjoy the first Can Marlès sparkling wine.
Besides enjoying the wines at our cellar, the valley has 8 abandoned manor houses, dated between the 1500 and the 1800, which are thought for high-level rural wine tourism. One of them is already being restored and "La Marlesita" , situated in the main property, is finished and ready to spend and enjoy some days there, between silence, nature and vineyards.
Apart from sampling, wine-testing and buying in the cellar, Can Marlès offers the possibility of rural wine tourism and many activities such as routes with a 4x4, apiculture, hiking, speleology, balloon ride over the valley and the SERRALADA, personalized picnics in the woods, body treatments, cycling routes, visiting and meeting our Suri alpacas, closeness gastronomy, learn about the historical and natural environment…
