This proposal offers the opportunity to experience a part of our history up close, finding out about the history of the Penedès through the gastronomy of the period. We will see the trenches and the Centre d’Interpretació de l’Última Defensa de Barcelona (Centre for the Interpretation of the Last Defence of Barcelona - CIUDEB) in Subirats, and the Refugi i Centre d’Interpretació de l’Aviació Republicana i la Guerra Aèria (Shelter and Centre
for the Interpretation of Republican Aviation and Aerial Warfare - CIARGA) in Santa Margarida i els Monjos.
The experience starts in Subirats, where we will go into the woods to visit a trench, a forgotten, little-known legacy of the Spanish Civil War. During the guided tour, there will be a breakfast in the vineyards. Then there will be a visit to the CIUDEB, a unique museum facility, a point of reference regarding the events that took place on 22nd and 23rd January of 1939 during the Spanish Civil War. Finally, the participants will go to the town of Santa Margarida i els Monjos to see one of the best-preserved shelters and the CIARGA, an important facility dedicated to explaining the history and evolution of Republican aviation in the Spanish Civil War. At the end of the guided tour, we will head to the centre of the town to enjoy a gourmet
wartime meal at a local restaurant.
